    Mudanza inminente; Raiders ya tiene luz verde para su estadio en Las Vegas

    El dueño del equipo, Mark Davis, agradeció al Estado de Nevada que aprobara la construcción de la que será "la nueva casa de los Raiders".

    NEVADA - Luego de varios meses de rumores especulaciones sobre el futuro del equipo, este viernes la historia de los Oakland Raiders dio un giro que parece definitivo pues el dueño de la franquicia, Mark Davis, hizo una declaración pública que apunta a que su próximo destino está en Las Vegas.

    "Me gustaría agradecer al gobernador Sandoval, el Comité de Infraestructura Turística del Sur de Nevada, y los miembros de la Legislatura de Nevada en este día histórico", dijo el dueño de los Raiders, Mark Davis, luego de que la Legislatura de Nevada firmara un acuerdo que dicta utilizará 750 millones de dinero público para construir un estadio de la NFL en Las Vegas, a pesar de la oposición a un proyecto financiado en parte por el magnate multimillonario de casinos Sheldon Adelson.

    El gobernador republicano Brian Sandoval, que ha apoyado firmemente el proyecto, espera que se firme el acuerdo en Las Vegas el lunes.

    "Todas las partes han trabajado muy duro para desarrollar y aprobar este tremendo proyecto del estadio que servirá como una nueva orgullosa casa para toda la Nación Raider", añadió Davis.

    El Senado de Nevada dio la aprobación final a algunos cambios de menor importancia, después de la Asamblea votó 28-13 y el Senado votó 16-5 a favor del proyecto de ley. La medida aumentaría los impuestos de hotel por hasta 1,4 puntos porcentuales en el área de Las Vegas para financiar una expansión del centro de convenciones y construir un estadio techado de 65,000 asientos para traer a los Oakland Raiders.

    "Es muy emocionante", dijo Andy Abboud, jefe de grupo de presión de los casinos de Adelson, después de la votación repentina. "Pero esto es realmente acerca de los trabajos, y creo que al final del día la gente vio esto como un fantástico paquete de estímulo económico".

    La contribución pública será la mayor en primas de dólares que para cualquier otro estadio de la NFL, aunque la repartición de los los costos - 39 por ciento - es menor que para estadios en ciudades de tamaño similar, como Indianapolis, Cleveland y Cincinnati.

    Esta aprobación era el penúltimo eslabón de una mudanza inminente de los Raiders. Durante la temporada baja el equipo intentó mudarse a Los Ángeles, pero los Rams se quedaron con esa plaza.

    Sin embargo, se abrieron dos posibilidades. Que el gobierno de Oakland invirtiera dinero para un nuevo estadio o la franquicia buscaría un nuevo lugar donde vivir. Las Vegas se levantó como candidato y aprobaron un presupuesto de arriba de los cinco mil millones de dólares para un recinto deportivo.

    Ahora solo resta esperar que termine la actual temporada para hacer el anuncio. En un futuro no muy lejano Oakland se quedará sin equipo para dar paso a Las Vegas Raiders.
