El presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, continuó con su particular cruzada contra los jugadores y directivos de la NFL y este martes abogó por establecer una norma que prohíba el arrodillarse durante la interpretación del himno nacional.

"La NFL tiene todo tipo de reglas y reglamentos. Su única salida es establecer por norma que no se puedan arrodillar durante el himno nacional", afirmó el mandatario a través de su cuenta personal de la red social Twitter.

Esta afirmación se produce tras varios días de intensos cruces de palabras entre Trump y diversos representantes del mundo del deporte a raíz del gesto llevado a cabo en los últimos tiempos por numerosos jugadores de arrodillarse durante el himno como muestra de protesta contra la violencia policial que sufren los afroamericanos.

A primera hora de la mañana, el presidente ya había utilizado la red social para valorar que los índices de audiencia de la NFL "están por los suelos, excepto antes de que empiece el partido", cuando la gente sintoniza para ver si el país "será o no respetado".

La noche del lunes, los Dallas Cowboys introdujeron una novedad importante en la protesta que consistió en ponerse todos de rodillas, incluido su dueño, Jerry Jones, pero antes de que sonara el himno nacional y se desplegara la bandera de Estados Unidos.
Según Trump, el "abucheo" registrado anoche en el partido entre Cowboys y Cardinals en Arizona fue "el más ruidoso" que haya escuchado jamás.
