    Fallece en accidente automovilístico Terry Glenn, exjugador de Cowboys y Patriots

    El exjugador de los Dallas Cowboys, Terry Glenn, murió el lunes tras sufrir una volcadura en un accidente vehicular en Irving, Texas -cerca de Dallas- en donde su prometida resultó levemente herida, informaron las autoridades.

    Glenn, quien se desempeñara como receptor abierto, tenía 43 años. Falleció poco antes de la 1:00 de la madrugada en el Hospital Parkland Memorial de Dallas, de acuerdo con la oficina del forense del condado de Dallas.

    La policía de Irving investiga la causa del accidente ocurrido a las 12:18 de la mañana en la vía al este de la Autopista 114, dijo Chelsey Jones, una vocera del Departamento de Policía.

    Glenn, exestrella de Ohio State que vivió en la zona de Dallas, conducía cuando el vehículo salió de la autopista, se impactó con una barrera de concreto y volcó, de acuerdo con las autoridades. Glenn salió expulsado del auto.

    Jones agregó que la mujer, prometida del ex jugador, fue trasladada a un hospital para recibir atención por lesiones leves. Su nombre y otros detalles no fueron proporcionados. Jones no contaba con información de momento sobre si la pareja usaba cinturones de seguridad al momento del accidente.

    Glenn jugó 12 temporadas en la NFL, de 1996 a 2007, incluyendo seis con los New England Patriots y cinco con los Cowboys, además de un año con Green Bay. Terminó su carrera con 8,823 yardas por recepción y 44 touchdowns.

    El entrenador de los Patriots, Bill Belichick, lamentó la muerte de Glenn: "Yo fui muy cercano de Terry. Su temporada como novato fue mi primer año aquí en 1996, por lo que tuve mucha interacción con él y otras personas que estuvieron involucradas en su vida y su separación de los Patriots”.

    “Terry fue un individuo muy inteligente. Tenía, obviamente, muchas habilidades físicas y talento. Era capaz de hacer muchas cosas en la cancha de manera muy natural. Y pienso que en el fondo fue una buena persona con buenas intenciones y un gran corazón. Obviamente, es una pérdida muy desafortunada y un día triste", indicó Belichick.
